Welcome to GradeWise! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the GradeWise educational platform located at gradewise.school ("Service," "Platform," or "GradeWise").
⚠️ Important: By accessing or using GradeWise, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, logging in, or using GradeWise in any way, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
2. Eligibility and Account Requirements
2.1 Authorized Users
GradeWise is available only to authorized users from participating educational institutions:
- Students: Currently enrolled at a school using GradeWise, with a valid school-provided email address
- Teachers: Currently employed at a school using GradeWise, with a valid school-provided email address
- Administrators: Authorized school personnel managing their institution's GradeWise instance
School Authorization: Access is granted based on your school email domain. Only schools with active GradeWise subscriptions can use the platform.
2.2 Account Security
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying your school administrator immediately of any unauthorized access or security breach
- Using a secure password (if using password authentication)
- Not sharing your account with others
2.3 Age Requirements
- Students under 13 must have parental consent provided through school enrollment
- All users must be authorized members of a participating school
3. Acceptable Use Policy
3.1 Permitted Uses
You may use GradeWise to:
- Access course materials and educational content assigned by your school
- Submit assignments and receive feedback
- Communicate with teachers and classmates for academic purposes
- Track your academic progress and grades
- Participate in educational activities as assigned by teachers
3.2 Prohibited Conduct
You agree NOT to:
- ❌ Share your account credentials with others
- ❌ Access another user's account without authorization
- ❌ Access data from schools other than your own
- ❌ Submit plagiarized or improperly AI-generated work
- ❌ Harass, bully, or threaten other users
- ❌ Upload viruses, malware, or malicious code
- ❌ Attempt to hack, disrupt, or damage the platform
- ❌ Use the platform for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
- ❌ Scrape, copy, or download content for redistribution
- ❌ Post inappropriate, offensive, or harmful content
- ❌ Impersonate teachers, students, or administrators
- ❌ Circumvent security features or access restrictions
- ❌ Use automated bots or scripts without authorization
- ❌ Attempt to access other schools' data or configurations
4. Academic Integrity
4.1 Original Work
All work submitted through GradeWise must be your own original work unless collaboration is explicitly permitted by the teacher.
4.2 AI Usage
- Use of AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) must comply with your teacher's guidelines and school policy
- Unauthorized use of AI for assignments may constitute academic dishonesty
- GradeWise uses AI for grading assistance, not to replace teacher judgment
- Teachers determine final grades, not automated systems
4.3 Plagiarism
Submitting work copied from others, websites, or AI without proper attribution is prohibited and may result in:
- Zero credit for the assignment
- Academic discipline per your school's policy
- Account suspension or termination
5. Multi-School Environment
5.1 School Segregation
- Each school's data is completely separate and private
- You can only access courses, students, and data from your own school
- Teachers cannot view or interact with students from other schools
- Administrators manage only their own school's instance
5.2 School Policies
- Your school may have additional policies governing GradeWise use
- School-specific policies take precedence over these general Terms
- Contact your school administrator for school-specific guidelines
6. Content and Intellectual Property
6.1 Your Content
- You retain ownership of work you create and submit
- By submitting content, you grant GradeWise a license to store, process, and display it for educational purposes within your school
- Teachers at your school may use your work as examples (with permission) or for grading purposes
- Your content is not shared with other schools unless you explicitly authorize it
6.2 Platform Content
- GradeWise platform software and design are owned by GradeWise
- Course materials may be owned by your school, GradeWise, or licensed from third parties
- You may not copy, distribute, or republish platform content without permission
- Educational use for enrolled students is permitted
6.3 Copyright
GradeWise respects intellectual property rights. If you believe content infringes your copyright, contact: support@gradewise.school
7. Grading and Academic Records
7.1 AI-Assisted Grading
- GradeWise uses Claude AI to assist teachers with grading
- All AI-generated grades and feedback are reviewed by teachers
- Final grades are determined by teachers, not automated systems
- You may request human review of any AI-graded assignment
7.2 Grade Accuracy
- We strive for accurate grade recording
- Report any grade discrepancies to your teacher immediately
- Official transcripts come from your school administration, not GradeWise
7.3 Academic Disputes
Grade disputes should be resolved with your teacher and school administration following your school's policy.
8. Privacy and Data Use
Please review our Privacy Policy for detailed information about how we collect, use, and protect your data.

- We collect only information necessary for educational purposes
- We comply with FERPA and international student privacy regulations
- We never sell student data to third parties
- Student data is not used for advertising
- Your school's data is completely separate from other schools
9. Service Availability and Modifications
9.1 Availability
- We strive for 99% uptime but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access
- Planned maintenance will be announced in advance when possible
- We are not liable for temporary service interruptions
- Your school may configure access hours or restrictions
9.2 Changes to Service
- We may add, modify, or remove features at any time
- We will notify users of significant changes
- Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance
9.3 No Warranty
GradeWise is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:
- Error-free operation
- Compatibility with all devices or browsers
- That the service will meet all your needs
10. Account Termination
10.1 By You
- Students may request account deletion by contacting their school administrator
- Graduated students' accounts may be archived per school policy
10.2 By Your School
Your school may suspend or terminate your account for:
- Violation of these Terms or school policies
- Academic dishonesty
- Abusive or harmful behavior
- Leaving the school (graduation, withdrawal, termination)
10.3 By GradeWise
We may suspend or terminate accounts for:
- Serious violation of these Terms
- Security concerns or threats to platform integrity
- Attempted unauthorized access to other schools' data
- If your school discontinues its GradeWise subscription
10.4 Effect of Termination
- Access to the platform will be revoked
- Academic records may be retained per school policy and regulations
- You remain responsible for conduct prior to termination
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- GradeWise is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- We are not responsible for data loss (though we maintain backups)
- We are not liable for actions of other users or schools
- Our total liability is limited to the fees paid by your school for the service
- We are not responsible for academic consequences resulting from platform use
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless GradeWise, its operators, and your school from any claims arising from:
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your use of the platform
- Your violation of any rights of others
- Content you submit to the platform
13. Third-Party Services
13.1 Google Sign-In
- GradeWise uses Google OAuth for authentication
- By using Google Sign-In, you agree to Google's Terms of Service
- We are not responsible for Google's services or policies
13.2 AI Services
- We use Claude AI (by Anthropic) for grading assistance
- Student work sent to AI services contains no personal identifying information
- AI providers process data according to their own terms and policies
14. School Subscription and Access
14.1 School-Based Access
- Access to GradeWise is provided through your school's subscription
- If your school discontinues its subscription, you will lose access
- You have no individual right to access GradeWise outside of school authorization
14.2 Pricing and Payments
- Pricing and payment terms are between GradeWise and your school
- Students and individual teachers do not pay for access
- Your school administrator can provide pricing information

15.2 School Policies
Academic and disciplinary matters are governed by your school's policies, not these Terms.
15.3 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Any legal disputes will be resolved in the appropriate courts.

17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
18. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms periodically. We will notify users of material changes via:
- Email to registered users
- Platform announcement
- Updated "Last Updated" date
Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
19. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any school-specific agreements, constitute the entire agreement between you and GradeWise regarding use of the Service.
Summary: Use GradeWise responsibly for educational purposes at your school. Don't cheat, don't hack, don't access other schools' data, and be respectful to others. We'll provide a good educational platform, but we can't be perfect. Your school's data is private and separate from other schools. Questions?
